What a good idea! As one concerned about the earth, it appeals to me.
This UK literary competition for short stories and poems is not only accepting entries via the internet, but it’s also helping to repair the environment.
As the details of the second Magic Oxygen Literary Prize say, it’s –
“…a unique writing competition for short stories and poetry, open to writers across the world and fondly referred to as MOLP.
It has a £3,000 prize fund and is the only literary competition in the world to plant a tree for every entry received. We also send each entrant a certificate with the GPS coordinates of their tree which they can view via a Google Maps link. This is a remarkable achievement and only made possible by the great community of Bore who document each plot with an electronic logger; they are taking the reforestation of their land very seriously.
Our competition is also funding the building of an urgently needed new classroom in the same community at Kundeni Primary School, right next door to our tropical Word Forest.”
